This campaign was started by Ashley Fraser to petition BCP Council.
A campaign has been launched by a group of Parkstone residents, seeking to prevent tower blocks that would impact on the view from Constitution Hill viewpoint.
Inspired by the protections of other well known viewpoints such as the protected vistas of St Pauls Cathedral in London, Save Sea View seeks to obtain a protected view status for Sea View that would restrict the building height of new developments in Poole, protecting the views of the Poole Harbour line, Brownsea Island, Poole Park Boating lake and more.
In order to do this, they have created a petition on saveseaview.com were you can call upon BCP Council to issue a Supplementary Planning Document that would formally outline the views in need of protection.
Save Sea View’s founder, Ashley Fraser said: “Sea View is a historic, popular public space enjoyed by locals and visitors to Poole and Parkstone throughout the year, but BCP Council’s “Big Plan”, which seeks to create a “cityscape” threatens these views of our natural heritage.”
By reaching 2,000 signatures the Save Sea View campaign can formally call for a full council debate on the issue.
In future, they will aim to aide the creation of further protections, by helping to start up and contribute to local neighbourhood plans.
